Law 887 protects the interests of residents while providing landlords with a clear legal environment by regulating part of the rental market. As a tenant, this law guarantees you rental stability.

Housing governed by this law cannot be let to just anyone, the choice of tenant is governed by strict criteria, and the rental conditions are clearly defined by the legislation: the minimum term of the lease is 6 years (except in special cases), the rent is governed and subject to approval, the use of the property is strictly residential and occupation must be personal to the tenant (subletting is prohibited in Monaco). The contract must also be declared to the Housing Department before being let.
